Women In Blue
“Let’s play today in a such a manner that all that is visible is the colour blue”.. This is a dialogue from the movie Shabhaash Mithu by captain Mithali Raj (played by Tapsee Pannu) just before the team goes out to play their World Cup finals. This is exactly how the Indian women’s cricket team performed during the semi-final match against Australia. What is even more overwhelming is the way the packed-Mumbai stadium cheered the Women in Blue. I am personally not an ardent follower of any sport; but for us Indians cricket has always been an emotion, beyond just a game. Watching the highlights of the match gave me goosebumps. The 25-yr old Jemimah Rodrigues won our hearts not just with her bat; but also with her resilience and composed demeanor even after scoring a century, leading the team to victory in the semi-finals.
